Speaker Silver Statement Regarding United States GSA Agreement to Lease Space at One WTC

July 18, 2012
One World Trade Center is the most visible symbol of Lower Manhattan’s remarkable resurgence and the new lease signed by the General Services Administration is yet another strong vote of confidence for our community.
Out of the tragedy of 9/11, our Downtown community has pulled together and created a thriving neighborhood of new schools, parks, improved transportation and a rapidly growing residential and commercial population. As tenants continue to fill up the tallest building in New York City, we are sending a powerful message to the world that Lower Manhattan is better than ever.
I want to thank Senator Charles Schumer for his tenacious efforts in helping to bring this agreement to fruition and for all of the work he has done in rebuilding Lower Manhattan.
