Silver Cuts Ribbon To Open LoftWorks @ Lafayette
January 14, 2003

Assemblyman Sheldon Silver (third from left) cuts the ceremonial ribbon at the opening of LoftWorks @ Lafayette, a new retail clothing store just south of Chinatown. At the time of its opening last summer, LoftWorks was the largest new store to open below Canal Street after 9/11, and its location was chosen specifically to help revitalize the Lower Manhattan economy. All 60 LoftWorks employees are from the local community. Also pictured are (left to right) City Councilman Alan Gerson, US Representative Jerrold Nadler, Manhattan Borough President C. Virginia Fields, LoftWorks President Lana Choy, LoftWorks Founder Irwin Liu, and Former US Representative and Vice Presidential nominee Geraldine Ferraro.
