Katz Votes Against New Debt Authorization

It is no secret that New York is in a state of fiscal disarray, but the plan to incur more debt that our families and businesses cannot afford is irresponsible. I believe we need to realize, as a state, that we must oppose more borrowing and spending without any plan to lower our debt. The taxpayers deserve more respect than this, and increased government spending will always trickle down to hit the average citizen right in the pocketbook. The families in our state that face hard times should be an example for the bureaucrats in Albany to follow. Things will not get better if we do not learn to live within our means.
