McLaughlin Reviews Cuomo’s Budget
February 1, 2011
Assemblyman Steve McLaughlin (R,C-Melrose) today began an in-depth review of Governor Andrew Cuomo’s first Executive Budget. McLaughlin analyzed the governor’s key proposed cuts and other recommendations in the 1,000-plus-page document which is seeking to close a projected $10 billion deficit.
“There needs to be fundamental reform in a budget process that has raised spending far above the rate of inflation over the last several years, leading to high taxes and slowed economic growth here in the Capital Region.
“I intend to evaluate the Governor’s budget and review his proposals. The taxpayers of the 108th district deserve a state budget which will work for them, not one that serves the special interests in Albany.”
