Bethlehem Schools Taking Responsible Steps To Help Local Taxpayers

Statement by Assemblyman Steve McLaughlin (R,C-Melrose)
February 16, 2011
“The Bethlehem school district earlier this week announced 26 administrators or managers are voluntarily giving up pay raises for the 2011-2012 school year. This is in an effort to offset proposed state-aid reductions contained within Governor Cuomo’s Executive Budget. I applaud the efforts of these educators, and their decision shows how much the Bethlehem school district truly cares about the student body, the number of services they receive, and the quality of education they deserve.

“These decisions can never be easy, but with the future of a generation at stake, it’s an important step to take. I’m hopeful that other schools in our district and across the state will be encouraged by the leadership of the Bethlehem school district and find areas for responsible cuts while preserving a quality education for our children.”
