McLaughlin Welcomes Blue Star Mothers To Capitol

May 16, 2011

Assemblyman Steve McLaughlin (R,C-Melrose) today welcomed the Albany chapter of the Blue Star Mothers of America to the New York State Capitol. The Blue Star Mothers are proud mothers of active duty or honorably discharged military personnel. With a mission to provide emotional support to each other and participate in projects that benefit both active duty military personnel and our veterans, the Blue Star Mothers were thanked by McLaughlin for their tireless efforts on behalf of our country’s men and women in uniform. McLaughlin sponsored a resolution memorializing May 16, 2011 as Blue Star Families Day in New York State.

“The Blue Star Mothers’ original goal was to ensure our troops receive the benefits they deserve, help families of service members, and comfort each other in times of loss,” said McLaughlin. “It was my honor and privilege to recognize these women today at the Capitol in recognition of the work they do each day for the families and friends of those who fight to protect our freedoms.”
