Assemblyman Steve McLaughlin and Assembly Majority Leader Ron Canestrari visit with 4th grade students from Turnpike Elementary School at the state Capitol.
Assemblyman Steve McLaughlin (R,C-Melrose) recently hosted a group of fourth-grade students from Turnpike Elementary School in Lansingburgh at the state Capitol. The group toured the building and visited the Assembly Chamber, experiencing a live, legislative session. “One of the best things about representing a district in the Capital Region is having local students so close by, affording them the opportunity to visit the Capitol and experience democracy in action,” said McLaughlin. “As the 2012 Legislative Session wraps up, I’m thankful that the Turnpike students had a chance to get a tangible view of how state government works for the people of New York.” “I enjoyed the opportunity meeting with the teachers and fourth-graders from Turnpike Elementary School who were at the Capitol today to learn about their state government,” said Assembly Majority Leader Ron Canestrari. “It’s always great to meet with the next generation and possibly even a few future assembly members.”
