Assemblyman Steve McLaughlin questions Kenneth Adams, President & CEO of New York State Department of Economic Development, as to how Albany’s economic development initiatives will move New York from being the most business-unfriendly state in the nation (according to the non-partisan Tax Foundation). McLaughlin also urged Adams to explore avenues that will help “mom-and-pop” stores keep their doors open.
Assemblyman Steve McLaughlin (R,C,I-Melrose) recently attended the Economic Development budget hearing at the Capitol in Albany. He took the opportunity to continue his fight for upstate job creation, which was lacking in the executive budget.
“As ranking minority member on the Economic Development Committee, the budget hearing served as an opportunity for me to steer the conversation toward job creation in upstate New York, where we have largely been forgotten,” said McLaughlin. “In order to turn our economy around, the first step is getting people back to work. I am confident that, by working in a bipartisan fashion with my colleagues, we can make great strides for job creation in this year’s budget.”
In 2012, McLaughlin was ranked the number one pro-jobs legislator in the state by the Business Council of New York. McLaughlin has also been recognized by the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), Unshackle Upstate, and New Yorkers for Growth for his commitment to a pro-jobs agenda.
