In honor of fallen American Hero Chris Kyle, Talk 1300 host Melody Burns, Assemblyman Steve McLaughlin (R,C,I-Melrose) and citizens across the country are encouraging friends, neighbors and local governments to fly flags at half staff on Saturday, February 16, 2013. Kyle was a decorated former United States Navy SEAL and author of the 2012 autobiography “American Sniper,” who was recently killed in a tragic incident in Texas.
“Chris Kyle was not only a decorated American war hero but, more importantly, a loving father and friend to others,” said McLaughlin. “His sacrifices helped make our country a safer place and flying flags at half staff this Saturday is a small gesture of gratitude we can make in his honor. Chris’ story, from excelling on the battlefield to his work helping fellow veterans overcome post-traumatic stress disorder, is a testament to the abilities of a person who has selflessly dedicated himself to his country. I hope that our local municipalities and others will join me in honoring Chris.”
Mr. Kyle and his friend, Chad Littlefield, took a fellow veteran, Eddie Ray Routh, to a remote shooting range in Erath County. According to the authorities, Mr. Routh turned his weapon on the two men, shooting and killing them before fleeing in Mr. Kyle’s truck.
