NYS Assemblyman Tom Abinanti (92nd AD) has announced that the Warner Library and the Mt. Pleasant Library have been awarded State public library construction grants.
The Mount Pleasant Public Library, located in Pleasantville, has been awarded $241,133 to replace the library's severely deteriorated roof. Replacing the roof will preserve the building and library materials and reduce energy and maintenance costs.
Warner Library, located in Tarrytown and also serving Sleepy Hollow, will receive $5,836 to install security cameras throughout the public areas of the library to enhance safety.
These two grants are among 192 construction grants to public libraries and library systems throughout New York State. They are supported by a $14 million capital fund appropriation in the 2011 State budget.
“These State grants will help our local communities preserve and enhance vital facilities that the entire community uses every day at no cost to local property tax payers,” said the Greenburgh/Mt. Pleasant Assemblyman. “With the heavy demands on local budgets, the State needs to help as much as possible.”
