Assemblyman Tom McKevitt (R,C,I-East Meadow) participated in International Walk to School Day in the USA on November 9 at Harold D. Fayette Elementary School in North Merrick. The program works to encourage students to walk to school to enhance their health, reduce pollution associated with automobiles, and to clear safe routes for biking and walking.

“The health of our students starts first thing in the morning,” said McKevitt. “We can encourage healthier lifestyles among children by promoting walking or biking to school on safe, designated routes. I really enjoyed participating in International Walk to School Day, and I am using it to encourage other schools and communities to promote walking to school.”
