Barclay Honors Irving Candee for 60 Years of Service

Assemblyman Will Barclay (R,C,I—Pulaski) recently presented Irving Candee, left, with a New York State Assembly Citation. Candee has served the Belgium Cold Springs Fire Department for 60 years. This occasion was recently celebrated at the fire department’s annual installation banquet, held at Lakeside Fire Department Recreational Hall. Candee has been a firefighter since Dec. 6, 1951. During that time, he served as assistant fire chief, chief, secretary, and on the board of directors. The citation reads: “It takes a special dedication, a strong desire to help others and tireless sense of community to forsake precious time with family and friends to respond to the signal that a neighbor is in need; Irving Candee is such a firefighter.”
