Barclay Announces Deadline For Farming Grant

Assemblyman Will Barclay (R,C,I-Pulaski) reminded farmers today of new grant monies available for innovative, emerging farms and the deadline for applications is January 28.

Barclay supported putting $1 million in the 2014-2015 state budget to fund the program. Eligible farms must be 150 acres or less and embrace inventive, sustainable agricultural techniques. Up to $50,000 is available for new and existing small farms that have been in business for less than 10 years and who operate on less than 150 acres.

“Agribusiness is a critical component of our community’s continued success,” said Barclay. “This program is an excellent opportunity for new farmers to jump-start their careers or enable existing farmers to start a new crop. It is gratifying to see our advocacy on behalf of the agricultural community bear fruit.”

The deadline to apply for the beneficial grant is January 28. An application can be accessed at http://esd.ny.gov/BusinessPrograms/NewFarmersGrantFund.html.
