Federal Stimulus Plan Provides $2.7 Billion in Fiscal Relief to Counties and New York City
Reimbursement for Medicaid costs will help local governments balance budgets
March 4, 2009
“Thanks to the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act, local governments will receive Federal Medical Assistance Percentages aid over the next 27 months. This influx of needed Medicaid reimbursement will assist local governments with their budget shortfalls caused by the crippling economic crisis gripping our state and our nation.
“This federal assistance builds on the Assembly’s historic commitment to restructure Medicaid and eliminate waste by capping local Medicaid costs and taking over Family Health Plus. I’ll keep fighting to preserve our state’s health care system and lower the tax burden for hardworking families.”
