Over $118,000 to be allocated to area facilities
May 7, 2012

Assemblyman Bill Magee (D-Nelson) announced over $118,000 in construction and renovation grants for local public libraries and public library systems. These grants will allow the libraries to make much-needed renovations, giving them the opportunity to enhance and develop their facilities.

“Libraries are essential resources, especially in rural communities like ours,” Assemblyman Magee said. “Investing in our community’s libraries ensures that we will all have continued access to the valuable resources libraries provide.”

The following local libraries will benefit from these grants:

  • Cazenovia Public Library, Cazenovia: $91,123

    • This project will:

      • increase energy efficiency;
      • add security;
      • enhance the fire and cooling systems; and
      • take steps to preserve this historic facility’s architectural features while updating its three buildings.
  • C.W. Clark Memorial Library, Oriskany Falls: $24,658

    • This project will:

      • add a handicapped parking area;
      • expand the parking lot for improved access;
      • re-pave the driveway;
      • provide fencing and lighting in the parking lot to increase safety; and
      • improve the facility’s drainage system.
  • Morrisville Public Library, Morrisville: $2,936

    • This project will:

      • enable the continuation of critical roof and ceiling restorations;
      • increase effectiveness of library service through increased space and more efficient use of the building; and
      • improve energy efficiency.

“I will continue working to protect library funding, so that we can all benefit from the vital services provided by these facilities.” Assemblyman Magee concluded.
