Two Truck Loads of Donated Items to LI Veterans
Great Neck - Assemblywoman Michelle Schimel recently delivered two truckloads
of handmade valentines and donated items to the Long Island State Veterans Home in Stony
Brook and the Northport VA Medical Center.
Public and parochial schools, as well as businesses and private citizens in our community helped
collect two truck loads of personal care items, outerwear, and electronics for Assemblywoman
Schimel's annual Valentines for Vets program.
"For the third year in a row, despite these tough economic times, residents opened up their
hearts and were more generous than ever in demonstrating their strong support for our veterans,"
said Assemblywoman Michelle Schimel, a member of the Assembly's Veterans Affairs Committee. The
Assemblywoman delivered these items to the veterans on Friday, February 12.
