Great Neck - Assemblywoman Michelle Schimel would like to thank the entire Garden City Park
Fire Department (GCPFD) for all of their efforts in co-hosting the
July 25, 2010 blood drive with her, which resulted in the collection of 29 units of blood.
"Once again, the Garden City Park Fire Department has recognized the need to donate blood. Fact: Only
two percent of New Yorkers volunteer to donate blood. Year after year, the GCPFD sponsors annual blood
drives which save lives," said Assemblywoman Michelle Schimel, who regularly donates blood.

to rely upon other states to supply us, at cost, with the amount of blood our hospitals need on a daily
basis to save lives. I gave blood; it's easy, doesn't hurt much, and they serve great Lorna Doone

this precious resource?

residents do so each year?
