Every year, during the month of May, Assemblyman Ortiz introduces a Resolution in the New York State Assembly requesting the Governor to proclaim the Month of May as "Children Awareness Month". He also sponsors a "Children Awareness Month" project in his community, which involves holding workshops in his District Office where students learn about the functions of state government and the responsibilities of a state representative.
