Media Advisory

Brooklyn - Assemblymembers Jim Brennan and Joan Millman, Borough President Marty Markowitz, District Attorney Charles Hynes, New York Methodist Hospital, Congregation Beth Elohim, Brooklyn Community Board Six, the Park Slope Civic Council and Junior League of Brooklyn are hosting a Community Volunteer Fair on Thursday, May 15th from 6:30 PM to 9:00 PM at Congregation Beth Elohim, located at Garfield Place and Eighth Avenue in Park Slope.

The Community Volunteer Fair is an excellent opportunity for interested volunteers to meet and talk with representatives of over 70 organizations that depend on the services of volunteers. Brooklyn is fortunate to support a broad array of volunteer organizations - organizations that serve the homeless, the hungry, the elderly, the arts and the community. In past years, the fair has drawn over 500 potential volunteers - this year its organizers expect nearly 700 potential volunteers to attend. Peer ambassadors will be available to help to direct high school age volunteers to an appropriate community service placement.
