| SAY NO TO REFUND ANTICIPATION LOANS |
|
RALs, refund anticipation loans, are shortterm loans offered by tax preparation services. These loans often have outrageous interest rates, and if your refund is less than expected, you are still obligated to repay the RAL in full. Assemblyman Titone supported legislation that will help prevent taxpayers from falling victim to these loans by making sure RAL obligations are fully explained to the taxpayer and that the taxpayer knows an RAL is an option, not a requirement (A.1794.A).
