Nothing is more important than keeping our children and families safe. That's why I sponsored laws to:

• create the crime of luring a child (Ch. 405 of 2008);

• increase penalties for scam artists who defraud the elderly (Ch. 291 of 2008);

• stiffen sentences for criminals who assault seniors (Ch. 68 of 2008); and

• revoke the teaching license of any teacher convicted of a sex crime (Ch. 296 of 2008).

I'm also sponsoring legislation to:

• create the felony crime of endangering the welfare of a child (A.5148);

• require that window guards be installed in multiple dwellings that house children 10 and under (A.5185); and

• ban the possession, sale or manufacture of assault weapons (A.6157).
