Bronx Dominican Day Parade
Dear Neighbor:
During its successful two decade history the Bronx Dominican Day Parade has highlighted the
diversity of our community by celebrating the unique cultural heritage and achievements of the
Dominican population living in the Borough of the Bronx. And I am very pleased that the organizers
selected me as a God Mother of Honor International for this 20th anniversary parade. I appreciate
the honor and was glad to join thousands of Bronx residents on July 26th as a part of this great
event.
The thousands who turned-out for the parade showed that our community is part of an extraordinary
multicultural mosaic in the Bronx and is a reminder that our diversity is one of our greatest
assets. The success of the parade is also a real tribute to the hard work of the Gran Parada
Dominicana de el Bronx, Inc. in organizing this event and achieving results that bring pride to the
Bronx. In addition, parade organizers were gracious enough to provide scholarships to students that
will go a long way toward enhancing educational opportunities for young people in our community.
The Bronx Dominican Day Parade is a proven example of the contributions so many people have made
to the proud history of the Bronx being a melting pot where people from all national heritages,
races, creeds, colors and walks of life come together. I am sure that many residents of Claremont,
Highbridge, Mount Eden and Morris Heights in the 77th Assembly District have benefited greatly from
that success.
Congratulations are due to the Gran Parada Dominicana de el Bronx, Inc., Mr. Felipe Febles, Ms.
Rosa Ayala and all the organizers on another successful parade.
Sincerely,
Vanessa L. Gibson
Member of Assembly
77th District
