Assemblywoman Carmen E. Arroyo:
Working hard to keep nurses safe
Nurses are among the most assaulted workers in the American workforce.1
That is why Assemblywoman Arroyo sponsored legislation that makes it a class D felony to violently assault a nurse (A.3103-A). This measure, with its severe consequences, is designed to discourage people from physically attacking a nurse. It will help ensure that perpetrators are held accountable for their actions, and will create a safer, more secure work environment for nurses.

“Working in a nursing home, a hospital emergency room or a doctor’s office should be
a place for the treatment of injuries – not the cause of them. But too often, for nurses
on the job, that is not the case. This legislation gives nurses the protection they need
to do their job effectively – and safely.”
