Assemblymember Cahill proposes elimination of real property taxes for education

Assemblymember Cahill authored legislation to end the financial dependency of public schools on the regressive and unfair real property tax (A.8069). The real property tax penalizes the elderly, the retired, the unemployed, the widowed and the person who chooses to invest in his or her home. Mr. Cahill’s legislation will help ensure equitable education for all children of the state, regardless of wealth, within a school district.
