In preparing our children - the future leaders of our state and nation - to compete in an ever-growing global economy, we must ensure they receive the best education possible. That's why I've made it my priority as your Assemblyman to ensure our local schools receive their fair share in state education aid:
-
In 2008, I secured over $30 million in additional state aid for our local schools
-
Facing major shortfalls in state funding for local schools this year, I fought for the restoration of state aid in the budget - preventing major cuts in education programs and helping to hold the line on property taxes
-
I fought to restore over $10 million in library aid in this year's budget and fought for $281,000 for improvements to local libraries
-
Keeping college affordable, I worked to include $2.5 billion for SUNY in this year's budget - nearly $125 million more than last year - and protected aid for the Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) to help students pay for college.
