Assemblyman
Bob Reilly:
Your voice for a better community
Dear Neighbor,

Thank you for filling out my constituent survey. Knowing which issues are most important to you and your family helps me better represent your interests in the Assembly.

I received over one thousand responses from area residents from all walks of life, and have read every one. While we may not agree on all the issues, I want you to know that I’m working hard to move our community and our state in the right direction.

Thanks again for taking the time to complete my 2009 constituent survey. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact my office at 371-0568.

Sincerely,

Shoring up businesses
This year I fought to extend the Power for Jobs program, which provides low-cost energy to businesses that create or retain jobs in New York State. Today the program supports nearly 250,000 jobs and approximately 500 businesses and non-profits statewide, including 4,654 jobs in Albany and Saratoga counties.
Reining in public authorities
It’s unacceptable that our public authorities should be piling up enormous debt at the expense of families who are struggling just to get by. That’s why I’m urging the governor to sign into law new legislation I sponsored to create strict new rules to control public authority debt and provide protections for whistleblowers who expose misconduct or corruption.

Tackling high taxes
I realize that rising property taxes are pricing out residents and hurting our community. That’s why I continue to fight for a property tax cap that’s tied to a homeowner’s income and not their home’s value. I also worked to preserve the Basic and Enhanced STAR programs, saving Albany County homeowners between $541 and $948, and Saratoga County homeowners between $511 and $1,025.
Giving back to the community
Since I was elected in 2004, I’ve donated my entire Assembly salary to local charities and visited hundreds of organizations. Helping organizations that provide valuable services to our community has always been my top priority.
