DEADLINE: DEC. 12
Assemblymember Anthony Brindisi sent a letter to the DEC asking them to:
Extend the public comment period for hydrofracking. Families need more time to learn more about potential environmental harm from the process.
- Currently, the public has less than 90 days to read and comment on the Supplemental Generic Environmental Impact Statement (SGEIS) on hydraulic fracturing in NY.
- The deadline for submitting comments on the over 1,500-page SGEIS document is Dec. 12.
Exempt the area surrounding the Hinckley Reservoir Watershed from hydrofracking.
The Hinckley Reservoir is the only source of drinking water for 130,000 residents in Oneida and Herkimer counties and if it became contaminated, many families would no longer have access to clean tap water.
