You’ve
trimmed
your budget.
Now it’s
Albany’s turn.

Central New York families have learned to do more with less, and it’s time for Albany to follow suit.

Al Stirpe’s 3-point plan

Cut spending

You can’t spend more than you make. You know that. Now it’s Albany’s turn. Balancing the budget will require cuts in spending, and this means we have to make difficult and painful choices. Every program and agency must scale back and every cut must be considered.

Reduce property tax burden

High taxes are stifling Central New York families. Our school districts need to reduce spending, and that means Albany must act now. We must eliminate excessive mandates, empower school districts to direct more resources to the classroom and enact a circuit breaker-style property tax cap.

Streamline government

We need to overhaul state government so that it costs less and delivers more efficient and prompt service. Through consolidation, we’ve given you the power to merge local departments and services in your town. Now it’s Albany’s turn. By integrating state operations, we can save millions and implement better and faster services.

How would you close the deficit?

Some of the best cost-saving ideas come from everyday citizens who experience government inefficiencies or waste first hand. Please take a few moments to share your ideas on how to close the state’s budget gap.
