The State Department of Taxation and Finance is reporting that since October of 2006 over 3.3 million eligible homeowners have been sent a STAR rebate check from the state of New York for a portion of their local property taxes. However, if you have not yet applied for the STAR Local Property Tax Rebate and believe you are eligible, you need to file Form DTF-178 by the January 22 deadline. The form and instructions are available on the N.Y.S. Department of Taxation and Finance website. The website can be located at www.nystax.gov.

The following rebates have been issued for the school districts in the 122nd Assembly District:

I urge all of the residents in the 122nd district, and across the entire state, to file for this rebate. New Yorkers continue to face some of the highest taxes in the nation and every little bit of relief helps.

Your local assessor must certify all applications so please contact their office immediately as the deadline for the application is rapidly approaching.
