Knows New York’s tax system needs to be reformed

If there’s one thing we all agree on it’s that New York needs to fundamentally reform its property tax system. That’s why Assemblywoman Lifton supports the governor’s plan to establish a new bipartisan commission to recommend permanent property tax reductions. The commission will examine:
	Instituting a fair and effective property tax cap
	Reforms to address unfunded mandates-the major cost driving local school district property taxes upward
	Proposals to increase the fairness and effectiveness of New York’s tax relief system
Assemblywoman Lifton is a sponsor of A.1575A, a bill that would establish a personal income tax credit for those paying greater than 6 percent of their income on property taxes. The real property tax credit would be based on a household’s income and the percentage of property taxes that household pays.
