Investing in our children’s future
Assemblywoman Lifton fought for a final budget that:

Increases state aid to Cortland County schools to over $31 million in total
aid for the 2008-2009 school year

Increases state aid to Tompkins County schools to over $86 million in total
aid for the 2008-2009 school year

Includes over $682,000 for Cortland County and over $1.6 million for Tompkins County
universal pre-K, putting every child on a path to success

Restores the executive budget cuts to BOCES
All of this funding helps keep property taxes in check for Cortland and Tompkins County residents.
Making higher education more accessible

Assemblywoman Lifton successfully restored the $50 cut to all TAP recipients

Lifton also fought to restore $76 million in other opportunity programs such as HEOP, EOP,
SEEK and Bundy Aid – helping families afford college
