Assemblyman Gary Finch vowed to provide substantial tax relief for New York’s
hard-working residents. The state’s multi-billion dollar surplus justified returning money
to taxpayers through tax relief.
That is why Assemblyman Finch voted to provide school districts and localities with
valuable additional aid and overburdened homeowners with significant tax relief.
These measures, which Assemblyman Finch voted for, would provide families and
state residents with:
-
A sweeping tax relief package totaling $4 billion over the next two years.
-
School Tax Relief (STAR) program rebate checks that would return, on average,
$288 to senior citizens and $195 to homeowners.
-
Repeal of the 4 percent state sales tax on clothing and footwear purchases under
$110, as of April 1.
-
Enhanced STAR program cost-of-living increases for senior citizens totaling
$72 million.
-
Elimination of the marriage penalty, saving married couples $41 million statewide.
-
A cap on gasoline sales tax.
