Gary Finch is a reformer who cares.

Gary knows Albany is broken and that we need new ideas to shake up the establishment. Assemblyman Finch is working to reform state government and root out corruption by supporting:
  • Full disclosure of all income for elected officials,
  • Greater transparency to end backroom deals and secret negotiations,
  • Revoking pensions from politicians convicted of criminal activities.

As a taxpayer, Gary Finch understands the issues that affect hardworking families in New York. That’s why he’s fighting for a better future for our state by supporting:
  • A property tax cap,
  • Elimination of unfunded mandates on school districts,
  • Creation of jobs with economic development initiatives,
  • A cap on state spending to decrease state debt.
As a businessman in New York, Gary is invested in our communities. He knows what must be done in order to revitalize our economy and create a better state. That’s why Assemblyman Finch supports:
  • Saying “NO” to new taxes,
  • Voting against billions in additional state spending,
  • Fighting overregulation of business and voting against job-killing taxes and fees.

Cortland and Cayuga Counties both rank in the top 16 nationally for property taxes as a percentage of home value.

Local property tax levies grew by 73% from 1998 – 2008 – more than double the rate of inflation.

On average, New York public schools spend about $18,000 per student, or 71% higher than the national average, yet we rank 40th in high school graduation rate.

New York’s combined tax burden is the second highest in the nation – 79% above average.

Between 2000 – 2009, New York public schools added almost 12,000 classroom teachers while enrollment declined by about 156,000 students.

Too much is being spent and you’re getting too little in return.

We need to stand up and tell state leaders we’re not going to take it anymore.
