2011 was a banner year for reform in New York. Strong leadership has helped to pave the way for a brighter future in the Southern Tier and Finger Lakes Region. While there is still much work to be done, this year’s advances have helped put us back on the path toward fiscal solvency. The following are just a few of this year’s legislative accomplishments:
Deficit Reduction – Passed an on-time budget and closed a $10 billion deficit without resorting to broad-based tax increases, or new borrowing.

Fiscal Restraint – Reduced state government spending for the first time in recent memory.

2% Property Tax Cap – Capped property taxes with $127 million in local mandate relief.

Ethics Reform – Passed historic bipartisan ethics legislation to ensure greater disclosure, transparency and accountability in state government.

“We’re headed in the right direction and we must continue to work together to make our state a better place to live and work.”
