Assemblyman Brian Kolb vowed to provide substantial tax relief for Ontario County’s hard-working residents. The state’s multi-billion dollar surplus justified returning money to taxpayers through tax relief.

That is why Assemblyman Kolb voted to provide school districts and localities with valuable additional aid and overburdened homeowners with significant tax relief.

These measures, which Kolb voted for, would provide Ontario County families and state residents with:

  • A sweeping tax relief package totaling $4 billion over the next two years.

  • School Tax Relief (STAR) program rebate checks that would return, on average, $306 to senior citizens and $201 to homeowners.

  • An Empire State child tax credit of $330 per dependent child between 4 and 17 years of age to help parents with education-related expenses.

  • Repeal of the 4 percent state sales tax on clothing and footwear purchases under $110, as of April 1.

  • Enhanced STAR program cost-of-living increases for senior citizens totaling $72 million.

  • Elimination of the marriage penalty, saving married couples $41 million statewide.

  • A cap on gasoline sales tax.
