This much is clear: New York State no longer works for us. Independent thinkers have been replaced by entrenched, self-serving partisans, legislative stalemates, special interests, and an inefficient and growing bureaucracy.

New Yorkers agree that a Constitutional Convention is our best hope to transform state government and usher in a new era of accountability — a government that works for us, not against us.

After attending your local town hall meetings on The People’s Convention to Reform New York, I would like to hear what YOU think are the most pressing issues facing New York State. What do you think is causing the current state of dysfunction and gridlock in our government? What factors do you feel contribute to the deterioration of New York’s fragile economy? What reform measures, if enacted, would restore your faith and trust in those elected to public office?

Help make the People’s Convention to Reform New York a reality.
Here’s what you can do to help take back your state government:


WRITE YOUR ELECTED OFFICIALS: Sending letters, faxes and e-mails to elected officials – at all levels of government – builds awareness and non-partisan support for a People’s Convention. When writing local officials, ask them to enact a resolution in support of the People’s Convention to Reform New York Act.


SEND A LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Letters to the editor are a great way to share your views and make the case for a People’s Convention. The best part is this a free service and most daily and weekly newspapers welcome such letters.


CALL TALK RADIO: National, regional and local talk radio programs provide a terrific forum to ensure your voice is heard loud and clear.


SIGN OUR ON-LINE PETITION: Go to www.reformny.org and add your name to the growing list of New Yorkers wanting a more accountable and responsive state government.


CONTACT YOUR NYS ASSEMBLY AND SENATE REPRESENTATIVES: Ask them to support the People’s Convention to Reform New York Act (A.9157/S.6156).
