Reilich Announces Grants for Local Courts

Assemblyman Bill Reilich (R,C,I-Greece) today announced that 16 town and village courts throughout Monroe County have been awarded funding to renovate and purchase equipment to improve their operations and secure their facilities through the Justice Court Assistance Program.

"The Justice Court Assistance Program grants will help local courts better serve our communities," said Reilich. "It is important for these courts to have the resources they need to provide the best security and the most efficient judicial process for the residents of Monroe County and I am pleased that I could do my part in helping to promote these grants."

In Assemblyman Reilich's district, the Town of Greece will receive $5,390, the Town of Ogden will receive $23,550 and the Town of Sweden will receive $12,034.48 in grants from the Justice Court Assistance Program.

Beginning in 1999, the Justice Court Assistance Program aims to provide supplementary state assistance in the form of grants to the town and village justice courts to offset the budgetary limitations of local municipalities. The program grants will total $5 million statewide.

"These grants will go a long way toward providing needed funding for local courts and will help save our communities valuable tax dollars," added Reilich.
