5 Tips to College Financial Aid
  1. Do your homework
There are plenty of scholarship and grant opportunities. Do your research to find those that you are eligible for. NYS Higher Education Services Corporation (HESC) has tons of information available online at www.hesc.com

  2. Complete FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid)
Makes students eligible for several funding programs and is the first step in many scholarship applications. FAFSA is available online at www.fafsa.ed.gov.

  3. Apply for everything you qualify for
Submit to all programs that you’re eligible for but read all guidelines.

  4. Ask for help
High School Guidance Counselors and Financial Aid Officers from colleges are a great place to find information on how to apply for financial aid and what you need. Just ask!

  5. Be thorough, neat, and organized.
First appearance is very important for college scholarships. Neat applications make a difference!
