As the host community for the world renowned Niagara Power Project, energy is an important issue to many Niagara county residents. I have worked with the New York Power Authority in order to help local business receive low-cost power. Niagara Falls has always been a world leader in the production of hydro-power. Assemblywoman DelMonte sponsors legislation which ensures that at least one member of the board of directors for the New York Power Authority is a resident of Niagara County. In addition to her efforts to help local businesses, Assemblywoman DelMonte sponsored legislation to cap the state sales tax on gasoline and voted to force Big Oil to return some of its record profits to expand home heating assistance for more middle class families.
