New York State Assembly Minority Leader Brian M. Kolb (R,C,I,Ref-Canandaigua) (pictured foreground) delivered remarks at the first meeting of the Legislature's General Budget Conference Committee, held today in the Legislative Office Building in Albany. Leader Kolb outlined some of the budget priorities of the Assembly Minority Conference, including: fair pay for direct care workers, legalization of ride-sharing services in upstate New York, help for small businesses, an increase in education and library aid, and greater funding for the state's local roads.

In addition, Leader Kolb called on other legislative conferences to reject several costly and short-sighted budget proposals offered by the governor. Specific measures opposed by Leader Kolb include the governor's "free" college tuition program, a new tax on online sales and transactions, and a requirement for localities to consolidate services or face funding cuts.
