Speaker Carl Heastie Implements Sanctions Against Assemblymember Michael Miller
Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie today announced that he is immediately implementing sanctions recommended by the bipartisan Assembly Ethics and Guidance Committee concerning the conduct of Assemblymember Michael Miller.
The Ethics Committee found that Assemblymember Miller breached the confidentiality of an investigation by speaking with numerous persons other than his attorney. The Ethics Committee unanimously adopted the following motion:
- The committee recommends that the Speaker admonish the member, order the member to undergo training on the Assembly’s Policy Prohibiting Harassment, Discrimination and Retaliation and law of retaliation, and order that a climate survey be conducted of the member’s office.
Speaker Heastie accepts in full the recommendations of the Committee.
