In carrying out its mission, the Council oversees funding simplification, coordinates interagency oversight and the elimination of duplicate requirements, assists in accessing services for special needs children, and coordinates planning among agencies involved in early childhood services. The Council is included in the Education, Labor and Family Assistance appropriation bill. State Operations The Governor proposes an All Funds appropriation of $2,907,000 for State Fiscal Year (SFY) 2002-03, reflecting a decrease in General Fund support of $6,000. The Executive proposes a continued Federal appropriation of $1,100,000 to support the New York State Alliance for Family Literacy. This project, funded through a grant from the U.S. Department of Education, is for the expansion and coordination of services and resources statewide that improve family literacy. |
