Temporary and Disability Assistance
The New York State Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance has announced a request for proposals (RFP) for their Educational Resources (ER) program. This program is designed to assist social services districts in addressing the educational needs of their TANF-eligible population and enable them to improve their literacy skills and become productive and successful in the workplace, home and community. Through this RFP, the services of eligible organizations will be secured to provide the educational activities that are needed to enable participants to become employed, qualify for a better job or meet the entry requirements for job skills training.
Eligibility: Eligible applicants include nonprofit organizations, including school districts, Boards of Cooperative Educational Services (BOCES), community colleges, libraries and institutions of higher learning. Private not-for-profit applicants must be registered and in good standing with the Charities Bureau of the Attorney General’s Office. For-profit organizations are not eligible. Applicant organizations may apply for ER independently or as a lead organization of a consortium of organizations.

Administration for Children and Families
The Administration for Children and Families (ACF), Administration on Children, Youth and Families (ACYF), Family and Youth Services Bureau (FYSB) supports organizations and communities that work every day to put an end to homelessness, adolescent pregnancy and domestic violence. FYSB’s Runaway and Homeless Youth (RHY) program is accepting applications for the Street Outreach Program (SOP). The purpose of the SOP is to provide prevention services to runaway and homeless and street youth who have been subjected to, or are at risk of being subjected to, sexual abuse or sexual exploitation. The scope of work is to include outreach, individualized assessment, service linkages, case planning and follow-up for youth. FYSB’s intent is to increase young people’s safety, social and emotional well-being and self-sufficiency, and help them build permanent connections with families, communities, schools and other positive social networks.
Eligibility: Eligible applicants include public and nonprofit private entities, including states, localities and coordinated networks of such entities. Faith-based and community organizations are also eligible to apply. For-profit organizations, individuals (including sole proprietorships) and foreign entities are not eligible.

National Institute of Justice
The U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs, National Institute of Justice (NIJ) is seeking applications for funding for social and behavioral science research and program evaluations that address the effectiveness of programs, practices and policies designed to reduce firearms violence. Applicants may propose to study any of the wide variety of activities that are intended to accomplish this purpose, but they are encouraged to focus on efforts with firearms violence reduction as a primary goal. NIJ anticipates proposals for the following types of research: evaluations of programs or practices and research that focuses on the effects of laws or policies intended to reduce firearms violence. Mary Kay Foundation
In October, The Mary Kay Foundation will observe National Domestic Violence Awareness Month by awarding grants to deserving women’s domestic violence shelters across the United States. Grants will be awarded to organizations that assist survivors of domestic violence by operating emergency shelters.
Eligibility: Only applicants operating an emergency shelter (immediate overnight housing) for survivors of domestic violence are eligible for a grant. Applicants must be recognized as tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
Funding: The foundation will award a grant to at least one domestic violence shelter in every state. Any remaining funds will be distributed based on state population. Funds awarded by the foundation may be used for operating expenses, with the exception of staff travel.

Lupus Foundation of America
The Lupus Foundation of America (LFA) is accepting applications for their Career Development Award. The purpose of this award is to facilitate the professional development of rheumatology, nephrology and dermatology fellows interested in lupus research. This grant is meant to support fellows who want careers as an independent clinician-scientist at an academic, medical or research institution, with a research program having considerable focus on the investigation of basic, clinical, translational, behavioral or epidemiological lupus research.
Eligibility: To be eligible to apply, applicants must hold an M.D. (or equivalent) from an accredited institution, be a U.S. citizen or legal resident of the U.S. or Canada at the time of application submission, be a first- or second-year fellow in an adult or pediatric fellowship program in rheumatology, nephrology or dermatology accredited by either the American Council on Graduate Medical Education (in the U.S.) or Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons (in Canada). In addition, to be eligible, applicants must have a documented history of conducting lupus research or must have submitted a lupus-specific abstract to the American College of Rheumatology or similar scientific meeting (or plan to do so) during the fellowship period.
Funding: The Lupus Foundation of America Career Development Award provides one or two annual grant awards in the amount of $70,000 each. The funding may be renewable for a second year along with an additional $70,000 depending upon progress made.

GreenPal is accepting applications for their Small Business Scholarship which aims to assist a motivated, driven student and future business leader. GreenPal’s scholarship is open to any graduating high school senior, college freshman or sophomore who owns and operates his/her own small business or has put together a business plan to start a business while in college.
Eligibility: Applicant must be graduating high school in 2015 or be currently enrolled in a college of business with a 3.0 or higher GPA. Additionally, applicants must have a declared major or minor in the college of business, economics or finance.
Funding: A scholarship of $2,000 will be awarded and paid equally over four semesters. Funds must be used for full-time enrollment at accredited two- or four-year colleges, universities, vocational or technical schools in the United States.
