TITLE OF BILL:
An act to amend the judiciary law, in relation to district attorney
ethics guidelines
amend the judiciary law by establishing, a set of district attorney
ethics guidelines exclusively based on guidelines set by the NYS Bar
Association.
 
SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS:
Section 1 states that district attorney ethics guidelines shall be
exclusively based on guidelines set by-the NYS Bar Association.

JUSTIFICATION:
District Attorneys, like all other public officials, must be held
accountable and should be expected to follow certain ethical guidelines.
This bill would ensure that there are ethics guidelines for district
attorneys, and that these guidelines are set by the NYS Bar Association
in order to ensure accountability.

AN ACT to amend the judiciary law, in relation to district attorney
ethics guidelines
The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-bly, do enact as follows:
1 Section 1. The judiciary law is amended by adding a new section 90-a
2 to read as follows:
3 § 90-a. District attorney ethics guidelines. District attorney ethics
4 guidelines, as published in the New York Rules of Professional Conduct,
5 22 NYCRR 1200, shall be exclusively based on guidelines set by the New
6 York state bar association.
7 § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
