To establish a minimum number of publicly available electric vehicle

SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS:

ties law to mandate that the New York Power Authority be responsible for
the installation and operation of level three fast electric vehicle
charging stations per every 10,000 residents in the state. Also, adds a
prevailing wage requirement.
Section 2 provides the effective date

JUSTIFICATION:
Consumer surveys have shown that one of the biggest barriers to the
adoption of electric vehicles is inadequate charging infrastructure.
With overreliance on fossil fuels worsening our climate crisis, electric
vehicles must increasingly play a role in our daily lives. The New York
Power Authority has an existing statutory goal to install publicly
available electric vehicle chargers. This legislation attaches a minimum
number of fast chagrining stations for residents to ensure that the
resulting infrastructure truly increases the viability of electric vehi-
cle ownership in New York.

FISCAL IMPLICATIONS FOR STATE AND LOCAL GOVERNMENTS:
To be determined.

EFFECTIVE DATE: Immediately after becoming law.
