AN ACT to amend the vehicle and traffic law, in relation to notification
requirements for traffic-control signal photo violation-monitoring
devices and photo speed violation monitoring systems
The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-bly, do enact as follows:
1 Section 1. The vehicle and traffic law is amended by adding a new
2 section 1111-f to read as follows:
3 § 1111-f. Traffic-control signal photo violation-monitoring devices;
4 notice. Notwithstanding any other provision of law, rule or regulation
5 to the contrary, a city or county authorized to install and operate
6 traffic-control signal photo violation-monitoring devices pursuant to
7 the provisions of this article shall install street signs and pavement
8 markings located one hundred feet, or as close as practicable, from a
9 traffic-control signal utilizing a photo violation-monitoring device
10 stating that a traffic-control signal photo violation-monitoring device
11 is in use.
12 § 2. The vehicle and traffic law is amended by adding a new section
13 1180-d to read as follows:
14 § 1180-d. Photo speed violation monitoring systems; notice. Notwith-
15 standing any other provision of law, rule or regulation to the contrary,
16 a city or county authorized to install and operate photo speed violation
17 monitoring systems pursuant to sections eleven hundred eighty-b and
18 eleven hundred eighty-c of this article shall install street signs and
19 pavement markings located one hundred feet, or as close as practicable,
20 from the photo speed violation monitoring system stating that a photo
21 speed violation monitoring system is in use.
22 § 3. This act shall take effect immediately.
