        Introduced by M. of A. HEVESI -- read once and referred to the Committee
          on Children and Families
 
        AN  ACT  amend  the social services law, in relation to making technical
          changes to certain provisions of such law; to repeal sections 2, 3,  4
          and  5  of  a chapter of the laws of 2024 amending the social services
          law relating to requiring maintained records for certain  children  to
          include whether they have a developmental disability; and conducting a
          study  on  the  number  of children in foster care who have a develop-
          mental disability; as proposed in legislative bills numbers S.  8679-A
          and  A.  8846-A,  in  relation  to conducting a study to determine the
          number of children in foster care and who have been diagnosed  with  a
          developmental  disability;  and to amend a chapter of the laws of 2024
          amending the social services  law  relating  to  requiring  maintained
          records  for  certain children to include whether they have a develop-
          mental disability; and conducting a study on the number of children in
          foster care who have a developmental disability, as proposed in legis-
          lative bills numbers S. 8679-A and  A.  8846-A,  in  relation  to  the
          effectiveness thereof
 
          The  People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
 
     1    Section 1.  Paragraphs (b) and (c) of subdivision 1 of section 372  of
     2  the  social  services  law,  as amended by a chapter of the laws of 2024
     3  amending the social services  law  relating  to  requiring    maintained
     4  records  for  certain  children  to include whether they have a develop-
     5  mental disability; and conducting a study on the number of  children  in
     6  foster care who have a developmental disability, as proposed in legisla-
     7  tive  bills  numbers  S.  8679-A  and  A. 8846-A, are amended to read as
     8  follows:
     9    (b) [his or her] the child's sex and  date  and  place  of  birth,  if
    10  ascertainable, or [his or her] the child's apparent age;
 
         EXPLANATION--Matter in italics (underscored) is new; matter in brackets
                              [ ] is old law to be omitted.

     1    (c)  the  full  and true names and places of birth of [his or her] the
     2  child's parents, and [their] such parents' actual residence  if  living,
     3  or  [their]  such parents' latest known residence, if deceased or where-
     4  abouts unknown and the name and actual residence  of  any  other  person
     5  having  custody  of  the  child, as nearly as the same can reasonably be
     6  ascertained;
     7    § 2. Sections 2, 3, 4 and 5 of a chapter of the laws of 2024  amending
     8  the  social  services  law  relating to requiring maintained records for
     9  certain children to include whether they have a developmental  disabili-
    10  ty;  and conducting a study on the number of children in foster care who
    11  have a  developmental  disability,  as  proposed  in  legislative  bills
    12  numbers S. 8679-A and A. 8846-A, are REPEALED.
    13    §  3.  Section  6 of a chapter of the laws of 2024 amending the social
    14  services law relating to requiring maintained records for certain  chil-
    15  dren  to  include  whether  they  have  a  developmental disability; and
    16  conducting a study on the number of children in foster care who  have  a
    17  developmental  disability,  as  proposed in legislative bills numbers S.
    18  8679-A and A.  8846-A, is renumbered section 2 and amended  to  read  as
    19  follows:
    20    §  2. This act shall take effect [immediately] one year after it shall
    21  have become a law.
    22    § 4. This act shall take effect immediately; provided,  however,  that
    23  sections  one and two of this act shall take effect on the same date and
    24  in the same manner as a chapter of the laws of 2024 relating to  requir-
    25  ing maintained records for certain children to include whether they have
    26  a  developmental  disability;  and  conducting  a study on the number of
    27  children in foster care who have a developmental disability, as proposed
    28  in legislative bills numbers S. 8679-A and A. 8846-A, takes effect.
