        AN ACT to amend the insurance law, in relation to directing the New York
          state health care quality and cost containment commission to study and
          report  upon  the  impact  of  requiring that certain health insurance
          plans provide coverage for treatment of lyme disease
 
          The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and  Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
 
     1    Section 1. Section 213 of the insurance law is amended by adding a new
     2  subsection (e) to read as follows:
     3    (e)  The  commission shall cause a study to be performed on the impact
     4  of requiring certain health insurance  plans  to  provide  coverage  for
     5  treatment of lyme disease. Such study shall include an assessment of the
     6  impact  of  such a requirement on costs to providers, the cost of insur-
     7  ance premiums, and the fiscal impact to the state. The commission  shall
     8  submit  a report of the findings, conclusions and recommendation of such
     9  study, on or before November thirtieth, two thousand  eighteen,  to  the
    10  governor,  the  temporary  president  of  the senate, the speaker of the
    11  assembly, the chairs of the senate and  assembly  insurance  committees,
    12  and the chairs of the senate and assembly health committees.
    13    § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
