        Introduced  by  M.  of  A. L. ROSENTHAL -- read once and referred to the
          Committee on Health
 
        AN ACT to amend the  public  health  law,  in  relation  to  information
          regarding  the  use  of  opioid antagonists for first aid or emergency
          treatment
 
          The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and  Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
 
     1    Section  1.  Subdivision 3-a of section 3309 of the public health law,
     2  as added by chapter 34 of the laws of 2014 and as renumbered by  section
     3  3  of  part  V  of chapter 57 of the laws of 2015, is amended to read as
     4  follows:
     5    3-a. Any distribution of opioid antagonists through this program shall
     6  include an informational card or sheet. The informational card or  sheet
     7  shall include, at a minimum, information on:
     8    (a) how to recognize symptoms of an opioid overdose;
     9    (b)  steps to take prior to and after an opioid antagonist is adminis-
    10  tered, including calling first responders;
    11    (c) the number for the toll free office of  alcoholism  and  substance
    12  abuse services HOPE line;
    13    (d)  how  to  access  the  office  of  alcoholism  and substance abuse
    14  services' website; [and]
    15    (e) the application of good samaritan protections provided in  section
    16  three thousand-a of this chapter; and
    17    (f) any other information deemed relevant by the commissioner.
    18    The educational card shall be provided in languages other than English
    19  as  deemed  appropriate  by  the commissioner. The department shall make
    20  such informational cards available to  the  opioid  overdose  prevention
    21  programs.
    22    §  2.  This  act  shall take effect on the sixtieth day after it shall
    23  have become a law.
