        Introduced  by  M.  of  A.  EICHENSTEIN -- read once and referred to the
          Committee on Aging
 
        AN ACT to amend the elder law, in relation to reporting unmet  need  for
          programs and services for the aging
 
          The  People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:

     1    Section 1. Section 203 of the elder law is amended  by  adding  a  new
     2  subdivision 2-a to read as follows:
     3    2-a.  Each  area agency on aging as defined by subdivision two of this
     4  section shall collect and report to the office the unmet need  for  each
     5  program or service offered. For the purposes of this section, unmet need
     6  shall  be  defined as the number of eligible individuals seeking partic-
     7  ipation in a program or service and who are not receiving  such  program
     8  or  service  due to insufficient resources or capacity. The office shall
     9  provide a report detailing the unmet need for each program or service to
    10  the speaker of the assembly and temporary president  of  the  senate  no
    11  later than December thirty-first of each year.
    12    § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
